Successfully completed the Senior Secondary School Education and offered subjects such as: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language.

Content
These qualifications provide official recognition that you are able to install and maintain commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning systems to the standards that employers are looking for. On completion of these qualifications you can demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills such as installing and commissioning Halocarbon ‘fluorinated’ air conditioning and heat pump systems, understanding and carrying out site preparation and pipework fabrication techniques for RAC systems, installing, testing and maintaining refrigeration systems.

• Level 1(Certificate) is for a frontline worker who wants a broad introduction to the theory and practical side of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
• Level 2 (Diploma) will increase your knowledge and practical skills in installing and maintaining refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems so that you can take on more responsibilities, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
• Level 3 (Advanced Diploma) will provide you with advanced knowledge and skills in refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems to work independently, supervise others, and manage resources.

Assessment
You will be assessed on your knowledge via multiple choice and/or written exams. Your practical skills will be assessed through assignments and demonstrations observed by qualified assessors.

Career Pathways/Progression
These qualifications can help you to progress in a wide range of roles within the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry, including:

• Refrigeration and Air-conditioning operator
• Refrigeration and Air-conditioning engineer
• Refrigeration and Air-conditioning technician

Once you have completed the Level 3 Advanced Diploma, you can move on to Level 4 qualifications in construction or management. At this stage you may even consider a move into higher education.
